Gareth Jones
Gareth started out in Motorsport in 1985 competing in Club level Rallies in Wales. This began initially as a navigator and then later as a driver . The weapon of choice was the good old Mk2 Escort RS2000 which self prepared, as many competitors did in those days. The rallying continued on and off until 1991 when Gareth sold the car.
A 20 year break from competition saw Gareth concentrating on work, family and a move to Australia. During a visit to Lakeside in 2011, a casual conversation sparked interest in getting back into Motorsport. Gareth ran the #44 Mustang for the 2012 season of ATA and was fortunate to win the division 2 title (now called the 5 litre classic class). There followed a 3 year break while he built the #66 Mustang from a rolling shell in his suburban garage.
Gareth’s # 66 car, named Mary Margaret, made her first appearance in 2016 and both continue to compete regularly in the 5 litre classic class.
