Sean Evans back behind the wheel in Trans-Am
Former karter Sean Evans from Brisbane’s southside will be behind the wheel of a V8 Mustang for the final round of the 2018 Performance wheels Australian Trans Am Series at Qld Raceway.He will be driving the 5.0Lt Mustang owned by New Zealander Tony Rutherford who won’t be able to make the final round on the 2nd to the 4th of November due to commitments back home.“I love driving V8s and the Trans Ams are truly old-school with how they are built and how they drive,” said Evans.“I’ve been lucky enough to have driven Laurie Watson’s Ford Mustang in another category and loved the way that car drove.”“My team was contacted by John English from Australian Trans-Am and told the car was available for me to drive and we jumped on this huge opportunity.“The category is fantastic place to showcase my driving and allow my sponsors to be involved in a class they truly appreciate.“We will have no testing available prior to the event, so the practice day on the Friday will be my first chance to drive Tony’s car.“The car is prepared by Rob Hackwood, so I’m very confident on how it will run.“He has been so helpful in the last week, helping make the necessary changes to the cars seating etc to accommodate the obvious size difference between Tony Rutherford and myself.“Once again it’s so fantastic to have the support of ROYANS Truck and Trailer Repairs with this new adventure and we are looking forward to a good result.“Special thanks to Signwright, Performance Lubricants Australia/UNIGLIDE and my team for your support as well.”Evans will be a busy man that weekend as he will also be driving the Excel Cup.Com.au Excel for Jasen Hannagan in the Bushranger 200 on the same program alongside karter Ryan O’Sullivan.He is still looking to secure a drive on a national platform and would love to jump back behind the wheel of a TA2 car as the category has been gaining momentum in 2018.“I was so fortunate to test a car last year and both myself and Ashley Jarvis tested very well on the day.”“Ashley purchased a car and went on to went the inaugural National Championship this year, that’s where I see my next step at this point in time.”Keep informed with all that’s happening by following Sean Evans via Facebook and Instagram.
